What this scanner is really for
A high-value specialist for small-to-medium mechanical parts, especially when surface or edge capture matters.
The key is to read Up to 0.03 mm as a manufacturer’s best-case specification, not a guaranteed result on every surface. Calibration, object finish, tracking stability, markers and operator technique all affect usable geometry.

Where capture gets difficult
Blue laser helps with dark and reflective mechanical surfaces, while full-field mode can track feature-rich objects without markers. Transparent parts and extreme gloss can still require coating.

Specifications come from the linked manufacturer source and may vary by optical mode, software version and region.

Capture is only half the workflow
Revo Scan manages capture, fusion, meshing and exports for downstream CAD or inspection software. The mode choice, marker layout and turntable setup influence results more than a single headline specification.
Mesh export is not the same as editable CAD. Reverse-engineering projects may still require surface reconstruction, dimensional constraints and verification in separate software.

Is it worth the price?
At its price class, MetroX is one of the clearest choices for small mechanical parts. It is less suitable than RANGE 2, MIRACO or Otter for people and very large subjects.

Full-field structured-light mode supports markerless scanning of feature-rich objects; laser modes normally use markers.
