Raptor's higher list price buys the broader NIR-plus-laser role. MetroX starts lower in the current database and may provide better value for a dedicated small-to-medium part station. For both, add reflective markers, allowed surface preparation, calibration time, a capable computer and operator training.

The downstream cost is similar: watertight mesh repair, CAD reconstruction, reference measurements and verification are separate from scanning. MetroX's extra modes can be valuable once standardized, but they add learning time. Raptor's broader object range can avoid a second scanner, but only if its NIR results meet the actual large-object requirement.
