Complete the workflow in order

Use cross lines for faster broad coverage
Start with cross-line capture on medium mechanical geometry when speed and stable marker tracking matter more than the smallest recess

Use parallel lines for controlled detail
Choose parallel lines when a slower, directional sweep gives better control across edges and smaller features

Use the single line for deep geometry
Move to single-line capture for slots, narrow recesses and holes that the broader patterns cannot illuminate from a useful angle

Use NIR for larger or organic surfaces
Select NIR when broader markerless coverage is more useful than laser-level edge detail, while preserving visible geometry for tracking

Run a short mode test before the full job
Capture the most difficult region in two plausible modes and inspect raw coverage instead of discovering a mode mismatch after a long scan

Record the mode with the output
Save software version, calibration state, marker arrangement and selected mode so a result can be repeated or diagnosed later
